HASSELSTROM RITES TUESDAY

Funeral services for Alfred Hasselstrom, 92, who died suddenly Saturday morning at the Hamilton County Home, will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Foster Funeral Home. The Rev. Harold W. Putney will officiate, and interment will be in South Marion Cemetery near Stratford.

Mr. Hasselstrom, a former resident of Stratford, had been a patient at the county home since 1930.

Son of Swen and Sophia Hasselstrom, he was born Jan. 8, 1854, in Sweden. As a young man he came with his parents to the United States, locating near Stratford. He resided there for a few years, then moving to the Black Hills, where he made his home until 1928. In that year he returned to Stratford, living there until 1930, when, because of ill health, he became a patient at the Hamilton County Home.

Survivors are three sisters, Dora Hassesltrom, Delia Hasselstrom, both of Stratford, and Mrs. Caroline Ginter of Kadoka, S.D., and a brother, Charlie Hasselstrom of Stratford.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, three sisters and two half brothers.

He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran church in Sweden.

Born Olof Alfred Svensson on January 30, 1854 at Guntorp Nolgården, Lyrestad, Skaraborg, Sweden, the son of Sven Svensson and Maria Sofia Olofsdotter.

Skaraborg County, or Skaraborgs län, was a county of Sweden until December 31, 1998 when it was merged with the counties of Gothenburg and Bohus and Älvsborg to form Västra Götaland County.
