Services Held Dec. 21 for Dorsey Gast, 69

The funeral service for Mr. Dorsey Gast, well known citizen of Stratford, was held in the Stratford Lutheran Church on Friday, December 21, with Pastor Robert Carlson officiating and with Hanson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Interment was made in the South Marion Cemetery, near Stratford. Mr. Gast was born June 27, 1893 (son of Jacob and Mary Ann (O'Tool) Gast) and passed away December 18, 1962 having reached the age of over 69 years.

Dorsey Gast was a very friendly person and did many favors and work for many persons of his area. He was an outspoken, but softened his words by his kind deeds and actions. He was a real booster for Stratford and the people there, he helped with all the duties of a good Izaak Walton member and was a thorough sportsman in every way. He will be missed greatly in and around Stratford.

Obituary of Dorsie Gilbert Gast

Dorsie Gilbert Gast, son of Jacob and Mary Ann O'Toole Gast was born in Yale, Illinois on June 27, 1893 and died at his home in Stratford at the age of 69 years.

He grew up and attended the Illinois schools. The past 35 years had been spent in Des Moines and Stratford, Iowa, where his occupation was a salesman.

On December 6, 1943, he was married to Esther Carlson Lynde and since then had lived in Stratford.

He was preceded in death by his father, mother, one sister and two brothers.

He is survived by his wife Esther, one brother-in-law, two sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces and many friends.

Mr. Gast was a faithful member of the Stratford Lutheran Church. He was also a member of the American Legion and County Conservation Board. He was a charter member and director of the River Valley Chapter of the Izaak Walton League of America.

Funeral services were held Friday, December 21, 1962 at the Stratford Lutheran Church with Robert W. Carlson officiating.

Organist was Mrs. Lloyd Angstrom. Soloist, Mrs. Ardelle Larson.

Casket bearers were Dale Ahrens, Ronald Berglund, Berkley Berglund, Harold Berglund, Loren Hinds, Iver Johnson.

Interment was made in the South Marion Cemetery.
