Obituary

Raymond G. Fostberg, 74, Stratford, died at the Stratford Care Center May 16, 1996 due to complications from cancer.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Stratford Lutheran Church with the Rev. Tom Hungerford officiating. Internment will be in the South Marion Cemetery. Visitation is from 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Stark-Welin Funeral Home in Stratford and from noon until service time Monday at the Stratford Lutheran Church.
Survivors include two sisters, Inez Simonson, Stratford, and Margit Dutcher, White Bear Lake, Minn,; brother Harold Fostberg, Stratford.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Raymond G. Fostberg was born Feb. 4, 1922 in Stratford. He graduated from Stratford High School in 1939. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the European theater with the 94th Infantry Division as a member of the Headquarters Company where he was a radio operator. He won four campaign stars and was awarded the Bronze Star personally by Gen. George S. Patton for meritious service. Following his discharge from the Army, he returned to Stratford where he operated a TV and radio business until 1967. He was employed as a janitor by the Stratford School District until 1975 when he opened his own business, Ray's Home and Garden Store in Stratford, which he owned and operated. He entered the Stratford Care Center in April 1996.
He was a member of the American Legion Frederick Sonksen Post 576 of Stratford for a number of years.
