Janet K. (Geitz) Behn, 70, of Marion, passed away on January 22, 2019 at Oldorf Hospice House in Hiawatha. She was born February 18, 1948 to Walter and Helen (Biermann) Geitz in Iowa Falls, Iowa.
Janet was a farm girl, growing up in Williams, Iowa. She graduated from Northeast Hamilton High School. After graduation, Janet was a nurse’s aide in Webster City, and then moved to the Cedar Rapids area in the 1960’s to begin working at Rockwell-Collins. Janet retired from Rockwell-Collins after 40 years of employment. She met Bill and they were married in November of 1976. She enjoyed gardening, crafts, painting, baking and was an avid boater. Janet was very active, playing tennis and golf, and she was a two-time champion of the skillet throw at Hog Wild Days in Hiawatha. Janet loved to travel; she enjoyed cruises with Bill, and especially spending time in Hawaii.
Janet is survived by her husband of 43 years, Bill; son Jason (Heidi) Strohman; and granddaughter Kenna. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Earl.
A visitation will be held from 9:30 until 11:00 am on Tuesday January 29, 2019 at the Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Services will follow at 11:00 am. Interment will take place at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
