REUBEN M. ERICKSON

Reuben M. Erickson, 85, Stratford, died at his home Friday, Jan. 2. He was born February 24, 1895 at Stanhope on the farm home of his parents, Swen and Martha [Bjorklund] Erickson.

Mr. Erickson was a member of the Calvary United Methodist Church, the Lions Club and the Stratford Development Corporation. In August 1934, he was elected a member of the Board of Directors of the Stratford Farmers Savings Bank and in 1958 was elected president of the board. In 1960 he retired from his hog buying operation but retained his farming interests and remained active in banking.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and a sister.

Survivors include a sister, Esther of Webster City; two nieces, Mrs. Norman (Caryl) Ross of Hot Springs Village, Ark. and Mrs. Herald (Ruth J.) Weed of Green Valley, Ariz.; three grandnephews, Richard Ross of Washington, D.C., Harold Weed, Jr. of Woodbridge, Va., and Robert J. Weed of Portland, Ore.; two grandnieces, Kay Bitner of Glen Ellyn, Ill. and Caryl Halverson of Spokane, Wash.; five great-grandnephews and five great-grandnieces.

Services will be held Tuesday, Jan. 6 at 10 a.m. at the Calvary United Methodist Church with Reverend Richard Russell officiating. Burial will be in the South Marion Cemetery.

Memorials may be given to the Calvary United Methodist Church.

Friends may call at the Hanson-Stark-Welin Funeral Home on Monday from 1 to 9 p.m. and on Tuesday at the church until time of the service.
