Death Takes Emil Erickson at County Hospital Tuesday

The community was shocked on Wednesday morning when they learned that Emil Erickson had died very suddenly at the Webster City hospital on Tuesday about midnight. Mr. Erickson, two weeks ago, underwent an appendix and gall bladder operation. His recovery had been very rapid, and he was coming to his home on Wednesday, and friends were rejoicing over his splendid recovery. Late Tuesday evening he took suddenly worse and died before Mrs. Erickson, who was staying in a home near the hospital could reach his bedside. It is believed that a blood clot may have caused his sudden death. Besides his wife he leaves his mother, Mrs. Sven Erickson, who is past eighty, his brother Reuben, who lives between Stanhope and Stratford, a sister, Esther, who lives on the home place with Reuben, and a sister Mrs. Jennings in Chicago.

Emil Erickson was a well known farmer, living two miles east of town. He was so friendly, so helpful to everyone, that his friends were limited only by those who knew him. He was often in town. His friendly salutations to all, his integrity, his worth as a man, active in affairs of the community made him a host of friends that can hardly realize that he is gone.

The funeral services of Mr. Erickson will be held this Friday afternoon with Foster's in charge. There will be a short service at the home at 1:30 p.m., followed by services at the Christian church in Stanhope, where Mr. and Mrs. Erickson held their membership, at 2:00 p.m. Rev. C.F. Schmidt will conduct the funeral services. The interment will be in the South Marion cemetery.
