Mrs. Mary Eckstein

Mrs. Mary S. Eckstein, 101, one of Boone's oldest residents, died this Thursday morning, Nov. 1, at the Boone County Hospital following a short illness. Mrs. Eckstein, who made her home with her daughter, Mrs. W.H. (Linda) Lippert, 327 South Tama Street, would have been 102 on Nov. 22.

She was born in Hardin Township, Webster County, Nov. 22, 1871, and moved to the South Marion Township community with her parents during her early childhood. On Feb. 25, 1891, she was married to John H. Eckstein and they lived on a farm south of Stratford until 1921 when they moved to Boone. Mr. Eckstein preceded her in death Feb. 21, 1932.

In addition to her daughter, Mrs. Lippert, she is survived by a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Chris Eckstein, Beloit, Wis., two grandchildren, Mrs. Knute (Evelyn) Erickson, 227 Crawford Street, and Robert Eckstein, Clinton, 10 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a son, Chris Eckstein in February of 1970, and a grandson, John Eckstein, who died July 24, 1973.

The Stark-Welin Chapel is in charge of the funeral arrangements which are incomplete at this time.

Mrs. Mary Eckstein

Funeral services for Mrs. Mary S. Eckstein, 101, who died Thursday morning at the Boone County Hospital, will be held Saturday, Nov. 3, at 10:30 a.m., at the Trinity Lutheran Church, with Pastor Paul Faga officiating. Burial will be in the South Marion Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Stark-Welin Chapel from 2 to 9 p.m. this Friday and on Saturday from 8 to 9 a.m., when the body will be taken to the church.

Memorials may be given to the Trinity Lutheran Church.
