John Kiesecker Passes Away at the Home of His Son, H.C. Kiesecker, on Third Street

EIGHTY-TWO YEARS OF AGE

Mr. Kiesecker's Death Due to Bronchitis Which Attacked Him Two Weeks Ago.

John Kiesecker, one of the oldest pioneer residents of Hamilton county, passed away Sunday morning at the home of his son, H.C. Kiesecker, 1137 Third street, at the ripe old age of 82 years, 11 months and 20 days - his death being due to bronchitis, which attacked him two weeks ago.

Mr. Kiesecker had always been a strong and robust man up till his last illness and sickness was almost unknown to him. He was a life long member of the German Lutheran church and was a man of the highest integrity and was esteemed by all who knew him.

John Kiesecker was born in Nassig, Wertheim, Germany, Feb. 10, 1826. He came to the United States in 1850, locating at Lancaster, Penn., where he worked at his trade - that of a tailor - for six years. He was married in 1854 to Miss Justine Daum and together they came west in 1856, locating on a farm near Burlington, Iowa, where they resided till 1874, when they removed to Hamilton county, where the deceased has resided continuously till the day of his death. During the past eight years he has made his home with his son Henry and family in this city. His wife died two years ago. During their residence at Burlington, eight children were born to them - three sons and five daughters - all of whom are living except the eldest son, he having died in infancy. The children are H. C., John, Mrs. Herman Heideck [Hydick in Henry Kiesecker obituary] and Mrs. Mikel Meyers of this city; Mrs. Anna Wiltsey of Marshalltown; Mrs. Mary Walker of Logan, and Mrs. Guy Hasty of Winterset.

The funeral will be held at the son's home, 1137 Third street, tomorrow afternoon at 2:30, conducted by Rev. W.F. Georg of the German Lutheran church, with interment in Graceland cemetery.
