HEART ATTACK PROVES FATAL TO FRED CASH

Former Prominent Businessman and Politician Dies at Spencer

Fred F. Cash, 72, a widely known Webster City resident and for many years one of its prominent businessmen and politicians, died Wednesday at the home of his son, Frank, in Spencer, where he had been living the past year.

Death was caused by a heart attack which he suffered Tuesday. He had been in failing health about two and a half years.

Funeral services are pending. The family will arrive here Friday from Spencer and burial will be made on the family lot in Graceland cemetery.

Fred Francis Cash was born in Webster City, where his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Irvin Cash, had moved in 1869 from Winterset. The father's old home was in Indiana and he was one of the city's pioneer tailors. The family home was on the north side, being located at the northeast corner of Prospect and Merritt streets.

Fred grew to young manhood here and attended the city schools. Later he entered his father's business and continued it after his father's death in 1904. From 1899 to 1916 Mr. Cash was in partnership with L.A. Lehnhard, conducting a men's clothing and furnishings business along with the tailor shop.

Mr. Lehnhard bought out his partner and Mr. Cash continued the tailoring business until ill health forced him to retire about three years ago.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Linda Bartlett Cash, a son, Frank, of Spencer, a grandson, Frank, jr., and two sisters, Mrs. R.E. Towle, of Short Falls, N.H., and Mrs. Maude Ryan, of this city, who at present is visiting her sister in the east. They are expected here for the funeral.

Mr. Cash was a member of the Elks club and in his younger days was prominent in other civic, social and political groups of the city. The Cash home was located at 620 First street. However, some months after Mr. Cash's health failed he went to Spencer to live with his son.
