Daily Freeman Journal, Webster City, Iowa, Tuesday, July 5, 1949

Mrs. Tom Irving, 65, died at 6:30 Sunday morning at her farm home, six miles northwest of Blairsburg, Iowa. She had been in poor health the past year but more seriously ill for about a month.

Rev. J.T. Stewart will officiate, assisted by Miss Ilene Peterson. Burial will be made in Graceland cemetery.

Mary Wood, daughter of William and Anne Wood, was born January 7, 1884 in Scotland. She was educated in Scotland and came to the United States in November of 1904. She was employed in Webster City until her marriage March 2, 1906 to Tom Irving. They started housekeeping on a farm six miles south of Webster City where they resided until 1921 when they moved to a farm south of Highview. In 1923 they purchased the farm in Blairsburg township and that had been her home since that time. Her husband preceded her in death in 1941. Also preceding her in death were one son, Joe, who died at the age of two, her parents, three brothers and one sister.

Mrs. Irving is survived by two sons, Carson and Charles of Blairsburg, also eleven grandchildren, two brothers and six sisters: Nora, Agnes, Christina, Anna, Jean, all of Scotland, Mrs. Ella Doig of Portland, Oregon, John of Australia and George of Scotland.

Mrs. Irving was baptized in the Established Church of Scotland and was a member of the Mulberry church.

A kind and loving mother, her main interests in life were her family and church.
