Daily Freeman Journal, Webster City, Iowa, Thursday, May 6, 1932

Elizabeth Jane Howard was born in the state of Indiana Jan. 22, 1849. When yet a girl she came with her parents to Jackson county, Iowa.

Oct. 20, 1869, she was married to John H. Seamonds and together they traveled and shared each other's joys and companionship for more than 62 years.

A few years following their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Seamonds came to Hamilton county and for more than half of a century they had been residents of the county and city.

Mrs. Seamonds was a firm believer in Christ and trusted in his promises which had to do with this present life, as well as those of the hereafter. She was a member of the church of Christ of this city, and was active and interested until advanced years and failing health deprived her of that privilege. She was hospitable, kind, and uncomplaining, thinking always of others, their comfort and welfare rather than of her own ailments and needs. This consideration of the good of others was manifest even to the close of her recent illness.

She passed away from this earth life at the family home, 1410 Second street, early Tuesday morning, April 26, 1932, just one week after the death of her companion. She was 83 years, 3 months and 4 days old.

Sister Seamonds leaves to treasure in memory the warmth of a mother's love and devotion, five daughters and two sons. The daughters are: Mrs. G.M. Dye, of Earlham; Mrs. Albert Wells, of St. Paul; Mrs. Arthur Blue, of Webster City; Mrs. Clyde Merritt, of Morton, Minn., Mrs. Earl Doolittle, of Webster City.

The sons are: Henry and Arthur Seamonds of Webster City.

There are also 19 grandchildren and 23 great great grandchildren.

Also there remains one sister, Mrs. Sadie Arthur, of Fort Dodge, and two brothers, Marshall, of Deercreek, Minn., and Ed, also of Minnesota.

May God in his infinite wisdom and love be the comforting benefactor to these who remain.

Funeral services were held in the Foster funeral home conducted by the pastor, Manson E. Miller, at 2:30 o'clock, Thursday, April 28, 1932, and the body laid beside her husband in the beautiful Graceland cemetery.
