Mrs. Mitchell Dies in City

Mrs. Charles Mitchell, 79, longtime resident of this city, died at 8:25 p.m. Thursday at the Hamilton county hospital where she had been a patient since Feb. 14. She had been in failing health the past two years.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 Monday at the Foster funeral home with the Rev. C.H. Peterseo [typo?] officiating and with burial in Graceland cemetery.

Anna S. Cornell, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Cornell, was born Feb. 13, 1876 at Monticello, Ill. She was a small child when the family moved to Foosland, Ill. where she was reared and educated.

She was united in marriage at Foosland March 2, 1898 to Charles Mitchell. Mr. and Mrs. Mitchell farmed near Foosland four years, then moved to Iowa, locating on a farm near Rockwell City in Calhoun county. They resided there for nine years, then moved to Hamilton county and farmed near Webster City until 1918. They moved then into Webster City, their home since.

Mrs. Mitchell is survived by her husband, one daughter-in-law, Mrs. L. Lowell Fowler of Rockwell City; one grand-daughter, Mrs. Keith (Betty) Klein of Marion, Iowa, and one grand-son, Charles Mitchell of Des Moines; three great-grandchildren, Karen, Kreg and Kaye Klein; one brother-in-law, Fred Goldsmith of Carlyle, Iowa.

Mrs. Mitchell was preceded in death by one son, Harold, who died in 1951; by her parents, one brother and one sister.

She was a member of the Methodist church and was a member of the Friendship Social club.

A woman of sterling character, Mrs. Mitchell's main interests in life were her home and her family.
