H.G. Mitchell Dies in City

Harold G. Mitchell, 50, died at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Hamilton county hospital where he has been a patient since Nov. 2. He had been in ill health the past four years but more seriously ill the past year.

Funeral services will be at 3:30 p.m. Monday at the Foster funeral home with the Rev. J.A. Farnham officiating. Burial will be in Graceland cemetery.

Harold Glenn Mitchell, son of Charles and Anna Mitchell, was born Nov. 4, 1901 on a farm near Foosland, Ill. He was four months old when the family moved to a farm near Rockwell City. When he was nine, the Mitchells moved to a farm near Webster City. He received his elementary schooling in the schools near this city and later attended Lincoln high school, being graduated with the class of 1920.

He later attended Iowa State college. Mr. Mitchell was united in marriage Feb. 11, 1925 to Miss Gladys Marvel, and the couple started housekeeping on a farm near Webster City, farming for several years before moving into Webster City where he was employed with the Zitterell-Mills Co. as a carpenter.

He later engaged in the stock-buying business with his father, but continued to be active in the carpentry trade.

Mr. Mitchell is survived by his wife, one daughter and one son: Mrs. Keith (Betty) Klein of Webster City, and Charles Mitchell, now attending Iowa State college at Ames; three grandchildren, Karen, Kreg and Kaye Klein; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Mitchell of Webster City, and several other relatives.

He was baptized in the Methodist faith and was a member of the Methodist church.

Mr. Mitchell had been very active in the A.F. of L. Carpenters union in this community and for many years was financial secretary. At the time of his death he was the union's business manager.
