Jake was born on October 21, 1939 in Harlan, IA to Lester and Dorothy (Errett) Jacobsen, the second of eight children.
Jake was employed by Weaver Ready Mix as the General Superintendent in Webster City from 1975 to 1982.
In 1983 Jake moved his family to The Woodlands, TX where he started selling turf equipment, retiring in 2006 from Houston Turf Equipment.
Jake passed away at 22:35 on April 10, 2017 at Park Manor Skilled Nursing facility in The Woodlands, TX.
Jake is survived by his wife, Marilyn of The Woodlands TX. Children Christine (Mike) Oliver of Dows, IA, Brian( Lori) of Bryan, TX. Grandson Travis (Miranda) Gatewood, Des Moines, IA and great granddaughter Kinzley also of Des Moines.
Jake will be buried in the Iowa Veterans Cemetery, Van Meter Iowa on Friday, May 19 at 12:30.
Celebration of life will continue afterwards at Granite City in Clive.
