Sylvia Ilene Eittreim,age 95 of Ellsworth, IA passed away on Sunday, April 30, 2017 at Hubbard Care Center in Hubbard, IA.

Sylvia Ilene Eittreim was born January 7, 1922 in Jewell, IA. She was one of two children born to Sam and Martha (Westre) Berg.

After graduating from Jewell High School, she attended Waldorf College, then taught country school northwest of Jewell.

On November 27, 1943, she was married to Stewart Osborn Eittreim at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Jewell. They raised three children. The family moved to Fort Dodge in 1957. She was employed as a secretary at Avco/New Idea Implement Company.
In later years, they moved to Ellsworth where she was very active in the Trinity Lutheran Church. She loved time spent with family, doing needle work, reading and cooking.

Ilene passed away on Sunday morning, April 30, 2017 at the Hubbard Care Center.

Those thankful for having shared her life include three children, daughter Jane Barkema of Jewell, IA, sons Dennis and his wife Joan Eittreim of Laguna Hills, CA and Brian and his wife Kathy Eittreim of Ellsworth, IA; eight grandchildren, Scott Barkema of Ellsworth, Jay Barkema of Jewell, Karla (Nate) Rohe of Clive, Jeffrey (Lauren) Eittreim of Bakersfield, CA, Mallory Eittreim of Laguna Hills, CA, Amy (Jason) Becker of Williamsburg, Krista Eittreim (fiance James Neal) of Des Moines, Kelly (Dustin) Frette of Lincoln, NE; eight great-grandchildren Alexander Barkema and Connor Rohe, Ryan, James and Grace Eittreim, Griffin and Channing Becker, Collins Frette; one sister-in-law Leota Berg of Jewell; along with many nieces and nephews.

Ilene was preceded in death by her parents, husband Stewart, son-in-law Dick Barkema and brother Oliver Berg.
