Eleanor Britson, age 88, of Radcliffe, IA, passed away on Wednesday, April 26, 2017 at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames, IA.

Eleanor Iona (Van Langen) Britson was born August 4, 1928, in rural Kamrar, Iowa, to George and Jennie (Klaver) Van Langen. She graduated from Kamrar Public School in rural Hamilton County in 1945 and attended American Institute of Business in Des Moines for one year. She worked at the Iowa Employment Service in Webster City, Iowa, after attending AIB.

Eleanor was married to Reuben Ward Britson on December 17, 1949, at the Presbyterian Church near Kamrar, Iowa. They began farming and raising a family of 5 children in the Radcliffe and Williams area and moved to Radcliffe in 1985. Eleanor was a longtime member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Radcliffe, Iowa. Eleanor was active in the Ladies Aid Society and assisted in sewing many Lutheran World Relief quilts. She was also a member of the Harmony Club. Eleanor loved sewing, refinishing furniture, and baking.
Eleanor, age 88, died April 26, 2017, at the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames, Iowa.

Those remaining to cherish her memory are one daughter-in-law, two sons and two daughters; Joyce Britson of Radcliffe, Iowa; Leslie (Vickie) Britson of Harrisburg, South Dakota; Marilyn (Dan) Cox of Garden City, Iowa; Roger (Kathy) Britson of Peoria, Arizona; and Carol Britson (Richard Lizotte) of Oxford, Mississippi; 11 grandchildren [Kelly (KC) Collins, Cheryl (Luke) Mannetter, Stacy (Mick) Zoske, Michael Britson, Alexis Britson, Jennifer (Eric) Kurtz, Wendy Cox, Allison Cox, Nicholas (Elizabeth) Cox, Jemma Lizotte, George Lizotte]; and 10 great grandchildren (Erin, Evan and Emmett Collins; Levi, Tyler and Blake Mannetter; Nathan, Logan and Jordan Zoske; and Andre Kurtz). Eleanor is also survived by her siblings Shirley Moore of Johnston, Iowa; Alvin Van Langen of Jewell, Iowa; Norman Van Langen of Alden, Iowa; one brother-in-law Everett (Bonnie) Britson of Atlantic, Iowa; and many other relatives and friends.

Eleanor was preceded in death by her parents George and Jennie Van Langen, husband Ward Britson, son Robert Britson, grandson Nathan Britson and an infant granddaughter.
