Clara Anna Hanson was born on April 25, 1920 to Louis & Nettie (Torkelson) Hanson at home in Williams IA. She passed away on Tuesday, July 18, 2017 at the Hubbard Care Center after a good life. Growing up a farm north of Radcliffe, she remembered carrying in water and wood to the house.

She attended Rose Grove #5 Country School. She graduated from Radcliffe High School in 1937.

She was a farm wife and homemaker. In 1942 Ann married Ted Vick. They had a son, Wayne. After Ted passed, she married Roy Houck in 1958 at the Little Brown Church at Nashua, IA. Roy brought with him four children: Jim, Dave, Kris and Jon.

Ann was a member at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Radcliffe. She was active in Ladies Aid Society as well as administrator of the Orton Fund, and TOPS. Her passion was baking. She enjoyed quilting, entertaining, and especially mowing her yard. Her quilts are her legacy to her family. Her grandchildren have fond memories of visiting and eating Kringlas.

Ann is survived by her children Wayne (Sue) Vick of Muscatine, IA, Jim (Betty) Houck of Porter, TX, Dave (Linda) Houck of Caldwell TX, Kris Kosar (Russ) of Ames IA, and Jon (Kim) Houck of Radcliffe, IA. One niece Gloria Johnston (Terry) of Webster City. Twelve grandchildren, David Vick (Tara), Tim Vick (Melissa), Kirk Vick (Nicole), Michael Vick (Shavonna), Michelle Houck Boucher (Danny), Steve Houck, Nathan Houck, Earl Houck, Jennifer Kosar Shook (Tom), James Kosar, Renae Houck Morrison (Andrew), and Ryan Houck (Ashley), and many great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her sister Esther Trampel, husbands Ted Vick and Roy Houck, and her niece Marie Myhre.
