Mrs. Fred M. (Nettie) Studley, 85, a longtime Webster City resident, died this morning at the Hamilton county hospital following a brief illness.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Foster Funeral Home with the Rev. Paul Mathis officiating. Burial will be in Graceland cemetery.

Nettie E. Whaley, daughter of Madison and Ellen Dingman Whaley, was born June 16, 1883 on a farm near Homer. When she was eight years old she moved with her parents to Webster City and was reared and educated in the Webster City community.

She was united in marriage Dec. 7, 1900 to Albert L. Doolittle and to this union two children were born, Mrs. Alberta Hanson of Webster City and Clinton Doolittle, who preceded her in death. Her husband also preceded her in death.

She was united in marriage April 12, 1911, to Edmund J. Shafer and to this union two sons were born, the Rev. Ralph E. Shafer of Wellington, Kan., and Harry J. Shafer, who preceded her in death. Her husband preceded her in death in June, 1920.

She was united in marriage Oct. 9, 1921, to Fred M. Studley and to this union one son was born, George Studley of Webster City.

Mr. and Mrs. Studley farmed north of Stonega until 1946 when they retired and moved into Webster City to their home at 412 Columbia street.

She was preceded in death by her husband Dec. 20, 1960.

In addition to her children, she is survived by 17 grandchildren, a number of great-grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. Etta Hurst of Canby, Ore. In addition to her husband and two sons, she was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and one sister.

At an early age Mrs. Studley was baptized in the Christian faith and in later years attended the Calvary Baptist church. She was a member of the East Side ladies aid, and a member of the Stonega community club.
