Hedwig "Peps" Steinbruch, 89, West Des Moines, formerly of Webster City, died July 25, 1994 at the Fountain West Health Center in West Des Moines. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Foster Funeral Home with Rev. Roy Miltner officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. Visitation is after 5 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, until time of service.

Hedwig Marie Matilda Baumgartner, daughter of Rev. Johannes and Emma (Hertlein) Baumgartner, was born Aug. 29, 1904 at New Memphis, Ill. The family moved to Colorado and later to George, Iowa. She had been deputy auditor in Lyon County.

On June 7, 1933, she married William Henry Steinbruch. The couple resided in Edna, then moved to Webster City in 1940. She was church organist at Trinity Lutheran Church for 45 years and at the Foster Funeral Home for 35 years. Her husband died in July of 1976. She moved to Fountain West in 1990.

She is survived by son, Larry Steinbruch of Des Moines; daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Al Ney of West Des Moines; sisters, Ruth Schar of Rock Rapids and Magdalyn Akre of Hoodsport, Wash.; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Rev. Adelbert Baumgartner.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Webster City. Memorials may be given to the organ fund of Trinity Lutheran Church.
