N. Miles Loring, 62, died suddenly this morning at 3 o'clock at his home, 1041 First St., his death being attributed to a heart attack. He had been in failing health for the past five years.

Funeral services will be held at the McCauley-Chapman funeral home Tuesday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. E.G. Brinkmeyer officiating and with burial in Graceland cemetery.

Nelson Miles Loring, son of Nelson J. and Esther Loring, was born April 25, 1868, at Austin, Minn. When he was two years old, he moved with his parents to Webster City, his home ever since.

He attended the Webster City schools and served with the U.S. army in the first World War.

On Oct. 22, 1919, he was united in marriage to Mabel Huddlestun, and the family farmed in the Webster City community until his retirement in 1958 when they moved into Webster City.

Mr. Loring had served on the Hamilton County Selective Service board for the past 16 years and was honored last year with a 15-year service pin.

Surviving are his wife; four sons, Miles H. Loring of San Pedro, Calif., Bob E. Loring, Palo Alto, Calif.; Jack H. Loring and Thomas W. Loring, both of Webster City; three sisters, Amy I. Hayse of Omaha, Marjorie Jackson, Sioux City, and Frances Babcock, Phoenix, Ariz.; 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

He was a member of the Webster City Elks lodge; the American Legion; and the First Baptist church.
