Mrs. Bascom Huddlestun, 76, died yesterday at 1 p.m. at the Hubbard Nursing home in Webster City.

Private funeral services will be held at McCauley-Chapman funeral home Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Rev. S.T. Lenters will officiate with burial being made in Graceland cemetery.

Lenore Layne, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard T. Layne, was born Nov. 8, 1872 [her headstone says 1871], on a farm south of Webster City. She received her education in the schools of the community and grew to young womanhood there.

Feb. 22, 1904 she was united in marriage to Bascom Huddlestun at Webster City. Mr. and Mrs. Huddlestun started housekeeping on a farm near here and Mrs. Huddlestun had lived in this vicinity ever since.

She was preceded in death by her husband, who died in December, 1948, by three sisters and two brothers. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. N.M. (Mable) Loring and Mrs. J.C. (Ramona) Russell, both of Webster City, five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters, Mrs. Eva Julian and Mrs. Edward Wiltsey.

Mrs. Huddlestun was affiliated with the Church of Christ when she was a young girl. She had been ill the past 17 years and had been a patient at the Hubbard Nursing home the past 11 months.

A loving wife and mother, her home and family were her main interests in life.
