Roland S. Wright, 69, widely known Stanhope resident, died at 5 a.m. today at the Hamilton county hospital following a short illness.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Methodist church in Stanhope with the Rev. D.L. Draper officiating and with burial in the Lawn Hill cemetery at Stanhope. The body will lie in state at the Foster funeral home until 10:30 Wednesday morning when it will be taken to the church.

Roland Spurgeon Wright, son of James and Alice Wright, was born May 24, 1890 at Grand Island, Neb. The family later moved to Monmouth, Ill., where he received his education. He later resided at Marshfield and Peculiar, Mo., then moved to the Stanhope community.

He was united in marriage Dec. 28, 1918, to Dale Gould, and Mr. and Mrs. Wright had always since resided in the Stanhope farm community.

He is survived by his wife; one granddaughter, Karolyn Kay Schultz; two step-granddaughters, Candee Schultz and Kelly Jo Schultz.

He was preceded in death by one son, one daughter and his parents.

Mr. Wright was a member of the Methodist church at Stanhope and was active in church work having been a member of the church board for many years. He was also a member of the Stanhope Lions club.
