Webster City Freeman, Webster City, Iowa, Thursday, July 12, 1945

Oliver E. son of James and Mary Smart Sneesby, was born May 4, 1876 on the farm home south of Stanhope and died at the hospital in Cherokee on July 6, 1945 at the age of 69 years, two months and two days. Death was caused by cancer.

In 1909 he went to Chugwater, Wyo., and filed on a claim. Later he returned to Stanhope, Iowa and made his home with his sister, Mrs. Susan Ann Bute.

He was a member of the Stanhope Methodist church and while in Wyoming he belonged to the Chugwater Methodist church. He studied his Bible in late years and had marked many of his favorite passages.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Isaac and James Sneesby, and five sisters, Hattie Sneesby, Lizzie Moxley, Minnie Taylor, Ella Taylor and Susan Ann Bute.

He is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Alice C. Ferguson, Livermore, and Mrs. Matilda Haney, Chugwater, Wyo., and one brother, Albert Sneesby, also of Chugwater. Six nephews and seven nieces and friends also survive.

Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. C.F. Schmidt at Foster's Sunday July 8, 1945 at 4 o'clock. Text taken from Corinthians.

Music was by Lloyd and Edgar Pringle and Mrs. Mina Draper of Webster City was organist. Pall bearers were G.H. Lundquist, Danny Knight, Roy Davis, L.Q. Dick, Ed Iverson and C.M. Wilson, of Stanhope.

Interment was made in Lawn Hill cemetery.
