Webster City Freeman, Webster City, Iowa, Monday, April 30, 1923

The funeral services for the late Ella J. Taylor, of Ames, were held at Stanhope Wednesday at 1 o'clock from the M.E. church, conducted by Rev. Hammer.

The music was furnished by the mixed quartette under the direction of Miss Della Hamilton. The quartette, which consisted of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer G. Fardahl, Mrs. E.J. Johnson and John L. Iverson, sang "Under His Wings," "One Sweetly Solemn Thought" and "No Night There."

The pallbearers were John Whalen, Charley Johnson, J.A. Johnston, Charlie Allen, James Philip and Ed Sogard. Interment was made in the Lawn Hill cemetery at Stanhope.

A short service was held Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. at her home in Ames, Rev. Edwards of the M.E. church of that place being in charge.

Mrs. Taylor had been in failing health for sometime, particularly during the past seven weeks. Her sister, Susan A. Bute, of Stanhope, and sister-in-law, Mrs. Frank Paige, of LaPorte City, were with her the last few days. She was taken to Mary Greeley hospital Saturday morning, where she underwent an operation Sunday. She died at the hospital Monday at the age of 61 years. Death was not caused directly from the operation, but from a complication of disease which would have resulted in death within a few days at most.

Ella J. Sneesby was born in Minnesota, Jan. 30, 1862. She came with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Sneesby to Hamilton county in early girlhood. May 20, 1881, she was united in holy matrimony to Willard M. Taylor. The young people established their home in Hamilton county on a farm southeast of Stanhope, where they lived together until the death of Mr. Taylor on Aug. 27, 1910.

In August, 1912, Mrs. Taylor and children moved to Ames, which place was her home until her death.

Mrs. Taylor united with the Methodist church in Stanhope during the early part of her married life. She was active in the women's societies of the church and a faithful attendant upon its services. She was also a member of the W.C.T.U. and the women's Relief Corps.

She was a woman of high ideals, generous to those who needed help, a good neighbor, and one who was always ready to give of her services when needed. She was a true and devoted mother.

Mrs. Taylor is survived by two children, Mrs. Jessie Taylor-Johnson, of Boone, and John E. Taylor, of Bagley; her son-in-law, William Johnson, and two grandchildren. Her brothers and sisters are Mrs. Susan A. Bute, of Stanhope; James Sneesby, of Mason City; Mrs. Alice Ferguson, of Livermore; Oliver Sneesby, of Cherokee, and Mrs. John B. Moxley, Mrs. E. A. Haney and Albert Sneesby, all of Chugwater, Wyoming. Besides these a number of nieces and nephews and many friends mourn the passing of a good woman.
