C.O. Sandal, Aged Resident, Dies Suddenly

C.O. Sandal, aged 79 years and a resident of this community for the past 55 years, passed away while asleep Wednesday morning. A cerebral hemorrhage was the cause of death.

Services will be held at the home at 1:30 o'clock and at Our Savior's Lutheran church at 2 o'clock Sunday. Rev. H.O. Oppedal will conduct the services. Fosters will be in charge.

Mr. Sandal came to Stanhope directly from Sweden and successfully met conditions in a new country. He was a prominent farmer and active in the life of the community during his active years. Gracious and kindly of manner and possessed of a sense of humor he was a man with many friends.

Mr. Sandal was born Dec. 14, 1858 in Sweden and came to this country when he was 9 years old. He moved to Stanhope 55 years ago and was united in marriage June 14, 1880, to Miss Anna Rehnblom. They located on their farm one mile east of Stanhope where they lived until they retired to their present home in Stanhope.

Mrs. Sandal died three years ago Jan. 28.

Surviving the father are seven children: Mrs. Martin Olson, Mrs. J.E. Iverson, of Stanhope; Mrs. George Nelson, of Cedar Falls; Mrs. Vernon Berglund, Mrs. George Siemson and Martin, of Stanhope, and Elmer, of Hubbard.

A brother and two sisters also survive as well as a half brother, Charles Monberg, of Stratford.
