Alfred Peterson, 87, Dies at Home of Son

Alfred Peterson, 87, for many years a resident on his farm a mile east of Stanhope, died Sunday afternoon at the home of his son Carl, at Thompson, Iowa. Mr. Peterson had not been in good health for some time. His funeral occurred at the Lutheran church, Stratford, on Wednesday afternoon, Rev. C.S. Erickson conducting the services. Burial was at the Stanhope Lawn Hill cemetery.

Alfred Peterson was born in Bastebergstrop, Asbo Sakken, Sweden, March 20, 1853 and passed away March 24, 1940. He was married to Clara Matilda Ehn in May, 1879, and came to this country in 1887 and settled on his farm a mile east of Stanhope. Here the Petersons resided until March, 1921 when they retired and moved to Stratford where they lived until Mrs. Peterson's death in 1925. Since that time Mr. Peterson has lived with his children. Those left to mourn his death are his two sons, C.A. Peterson of Thompson, and Dr. H.W. Peterson of Muncie, Ind. Ten grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, a brother and a sister and host of friends.

Those out of town attending the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. C.A. Peterson and family, Mr. and Mrs. Tilford Anderson and family of Thompson, George McClain, Scarville, Iowa, and Dr. H.W. Peterson of Muncie, Ind.
