Mrs. Peterson's Funeral Sunday

Funeral services for Mrs. Jennie Peterson, 86, will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Methodist church in Stanhope preceded by a brief service at 1:45 p.m. at her home in Stanhope.

The Rev. Reed Richards will officiate with burial in the Lawn Hill cemetery near Stanhope. The body will lie in state at the Foster funeral home until 10 a.m. Sunday at which time it will be taken to the Peterson home.

Mrs. Peterson died at 11:25 a.m. Thursday at her home. She had been bedfast since last Dec. 1 when she suffered a fractured hip in a fall.

Jennie Jacobson, daughter of Peter and Anna Jacobson, was born Oct. 14, 1870 on a farm southwest of Stanhope. She was reared and educated in the East Marion community. She was united in marriage April 9, 1895, to Andrew Peterson, and the couple farmed two miles south of Stanhope until 1922 when they moved into Stanhope where they resided for one year. Following the death of a daughter, Mrs. Earl (Alice) Davis, the Petersons moved to the Davis farm home near Stanhope to care for their three grandchildren. After the death of her husband in 1933, Mrs. Peterson returned to her home in Stanhope, her home since.

Surviving are two sons, Archie Peterson of Stanhope and Lloyd A. Peterson of Boone; eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; the one daughter; her parents and one brother, Albert Jacobson.

Mrs. Peterson was a member of the Methodist church in Stanhope and active in the Ladies Aid as long as her health permitted.
