Mrs. Mattie Knight, 101, one of Hamilton county's eldest residents, died early this morning at the Stratford Care Center where she had been residing since April.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Our Savior's Lutheran church in Stanhope with the Rev. Carroll Lang officiating and with burial in the Lawn Hill cemetery near Stanhope.

Friends may call at the Foster Funeral home from 7 p.m. today until 8:30 a.m. Monday when the casket will be taken to the church.

Mattie Jackson, daughter of Jacob and Martha Jackson, was born July 16, 1881 in Illinois. As a small child, she moved with her family to Iowa and she was reared and educated in the Stanhope area.

She was united in marriage Jan. 23, 1901 to James H. Knight, and the couple resided on a farm south of Stanhope.

She was preceded in death by her husband May 20, 1978, and continued to reside on the farm until April this year, when she moved to the Stratford Care Center.

She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Ione Meyer of Boone; a grandson, Don Meyer, of Boone, two great-grandchildren, James Meyer of Lytton, Iowa, and Mrs. James (Karen) Blend of Des Moines; two great-granddaughters, Danielle Blend of Des Moines and Jennifer Meyer of Lytton, and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by a daughter, Mrs. Wilma Ridge, June 23, 1982; a grandson, Gaylord Eugene Meyer; her parents; five brothers and two sisters.

She was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran church.
