E.S. Knight Died Sunday

Eugene S. Knight, 74, lifelong resident of the Stanhope community, died Sunday morning at the Hamilton County hospital where he had been a patient the past week. He had been in ill health the past six years.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Christian church in Stanhope with the Rev. Robert Karl Miller officiating and with burial in the Lawn Hill cemetery at Stanhope.

The body will lie in state at the Foster Funeral home until 9:30 Tuesday morning when it will be taken to the church.

Eugene Samuel Knight, son of Daniel and Martha Ritter Knight, was born Aug. 24, 1890, on a farm one mile south of Stanhope. He received his education in the Stanhope schools and grew to young manhood in that community.

He was united in marriage Feb. 28, 1912, to Esther Sorenson, and the couple made their home for a year on a farm two and one-half miles south of Stanhope. They then moved to a farm at the edge of Stanhope where they had always since resided.

He is survived by his wife and four daughters: Mrs. John (Orzelle) Kaufmann of Milwaukee, Mrs. Cleo Bell of Stratford, Mrs. Herb (Bonnie) Granville of Webster City and Mrs. Albert (Helen) Hove of Stanhope; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; two brothers, James H. Knight and Danny R. Knight, both of Stanhope, and a number of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.

Mr. Knight was baptized in the Christian faith and was a member of the Christian church at Stanhope.
