STANHOPE - Marie Hove, 72, a former resident of Stanhope, died Wednesday afternoon at the Riverside Manor Nursing home, Ames.

Services were Saturday at 10 a.m. from the Adam's Funeral home, Ames, with the Rev. O.M. Severseike of the Bethesda Lutheran church, Ames, officiating. Burial was in the Lawn Hill cemetery southeast of Stanhope.

Miss Hove was born Nov. 14, 1900 [daughter of Peter & Emily Hanson Hove] in Stanhope. She graduated from Stanhope high school and from St. Olaf college, Minneapolis, Minn. She received a master's degree from the State University of Iowa in 1929.

Miss Hove taught in several high schools from 1923-1929 and at State Teachers College in Wayne, Neb., from 1929-1943. She taught at Iowa State Teachers college from 1943-1944 and at the University of New Mexico from 1944-1946. She was professor of mathematics at Hofstra University, Long Island, N.Y., from 1946-1956.

In 1958 she was appointed assistant professor mathematics at Iowa State University and retired from ISU in 1965.

She was a member of Bethesda Lutheran church Ames. Miss Hove also belonged to the American University of Professors and the American Assn. of University Professors. She was a member and officer of the National Mathematics Sorority, national historian for Kappa Mu Epsilon from 1933-1937 and national secretary from 1937-1955. She was the author of two books.

She is survived by a brother, Leslie Hove and two sisters, Mrs. Gladys Christensen, Burlington and Mrs. Arline Sylvester, Albuquerque, N.M.
