MRS. HANSON, 85, DIES AT STANHOPE HOME

Funeral Services to Be Held Wednesday Afternoon at Church

Mrs. Matilda Hanson, 85, died at her home in Stanhope at 1:45 a.m. Monday, death following a stroke of paralysis.

She had been in failing health since May 2.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Stanhope Lutheran church, preceded by a brief service at the home at 1:30 p.m. The Rev. O.D. Munson will officiate and burial will be made in Lawn Hill cemetery [family headstone says Hansson] with Foster's in charge.

Augusta Matilda Anderson, daughter of Lars Peter and Maria Gustava Anderson, was born June 17, 1857 in Sweden. She was brought to the United States at the age of seven weeks, the family making the trip on a sailboat. They were at sea 14 weeks.

Arriving in this country, they came west, locating near Dubuque where the daughter grew to young womanhood. She was married at Dubuque April 6, 1874 to Sven Hanson.

Mr. and Mrs. Hanson came to Hamilton county locating on a farm two miles east of Stanhope where they lived until 1907, when they retired and moved into Stanhope.

Mr. Hanson died in 1910. She was also preceded in death by two sons and two daughters.

She leaves the following children: Mrs. Olaf Nelson and Mrs. Peter Hove, of Stanhope; Mrs. Lois Sonerholm, of Blue Earth, Minn.; O.W. Hanson, of Boone; A.O. Hanson of Albuquerque, N.M., and F.A. Hanson of Fort Dodge.

There are 14 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

She was the last of a family of five children. She was a charter member of the Stanhope Lutheran church and was baptized in Sweden and confirmed in the United States.

She was faithful in her church attendance as long as her health permitted.
