Furman L. Davis, 73, a lifelong Stanhope area resident, died early Monday morning at his home in Stanhope. He had been in ill health the past several years.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Foster Funeral home with the Rev. Ronald C. Swanson officiating and with burial in the Lawn Hill cemetery near Stanhope.

Furman Lea Davis, son of Charles and Elizabeth McFarland Davis, was born Feb. 10, 1902 near Stanhope. He was reared and educated in that community.

He was united in marriage Aug. 27, 1931 to Lenora L. Johnson and the couple farmed in the Stanhope community.

He was preceded in death by his wife July 21, 1966.

He retired in 1970, moving into Stanhope, where he had since resided.

Surviving are two daughters: Mrs. James (Joan) Klingaman, of Des Moines, Mrs. Larry (Patricia) Euritt of New Orleans, La.; four grandchildren, Jeff, Jon and Jamie Klingaman and Jennifer Euritt; three brothers and three sisters, Roy Davis, Stanhope, Charles Davis of Webster City and Clair Davis of Woolstock, Mrs. Chris (Maude) Toppenburg [or Toppenberg] of Jewell, Mrs. Edgar (Irene) Whalen of Stanhope; Mrs. Leo (Ethel) Dick of Keokuk and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters.
