G. DICK DIES AT STANHOPE

Funeral Services to Be Tuesday for Widely Known Merchant

Funeral services will be held at the Methodist church in Stanhope Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, for G.H. Dick, 79, widely known Stanhope merchant who died at his home Friday following an illness of two and one-half years. The Rev. James T. Stewart will officiate and burial will be made in Saratoga cemetery [Lawn Hill Cemetery], McCauley-Chapman's in charge.

Mr. Dick had been engaged in the hardware, furniture and undertaking trade at Stanhope for the past 42 years. With the exception of about nine years, he had lived all of his life in that community.

Also a minister of the United Brethren church, Mr. Dick served several pastorates in Iowa, his last being at Kingsley.

George Horton Dick was born in Coles county, Ill., and came to Iowa as a child. He was married in June, 1887, to Nora Branch at Stanhope.

Besides his wife, one daughter and four sons survive. They are Mrs. Vernon L. Kepler, Los Angeles, Cal.; Leo, Oakland, Iowa; Shelley of Osseo, Minn.; Nelson, Glendale, Cal.; and Wayne, Belleview, Ill.

One brother, O.K. Dick, lives at Iowa Falls and another, W.T. Dick, in Webster City. There are also eight grandchildren.

Three sons preceded Mr. Dick in death.

Always active in the affairs of the community, Mr. Dick was known as a man of integrity and sincerity. His business brought him a large number of contacts and his friends in his home community and over the county were numerous.

He was particularly zealous in the work of his church and had served for some time as supply pastor of the Methodist church in Stanhope. A leading citizen and good neighbor, he will be missed by a host of friends all over the county.
