Funeral services for Charles W. Davis, 73, will be held Friday at 1:30 p.m. at the Foster Funeral home with the Rev. Dale Kelley officiating and with burial in the Lawn Hill cemetery near Stanhope.

Mr. Davis died suddenly Tuesday morning at his home at 1417 Division St. He had been in ill health the past five years.

Charles William Davis, son of Charles and Mary McFarland Davis, was born Aug. 28, 1909, at Stanhope. He was reared and educated at Stanhope.

He was married to Beatrice Quick on Nov. 27, 1929 at Webster City. The couple farmed in the Stanhope area until 1955 when they moved to Webster City. Mr. Davis was employed at the Hamilton County courthouse until his retirement in August, 1971. The couple continued to make their home in Webster City.

Surviving are his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Eugene (Yvonne) Hamill of Fort Dodge and Mrs. Laurel (Linda) Thomas of Williams; one grandson, Shane Hamill of Fort Dodge; one sister, Mrs. Edgar (Irene) Whalen of Stanhope, and one brother, Clair Davis of Neosha, Mo.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers and four sisters, Roy Davis, Maude Toppenberg, Ethel Dick, Earl Davis, Alice Amundson, Furman Davis, Alta Manley and Frank Davis.
