FUNERAL OF MRS. CHALLE AT STANHOPE

A large number of relatives, friends and neighbors of the late Mrs. Ben Challe, of Stanhope, attended the funeral Wednesday afternoon at the Lutheran church at 1 o'clock. A number from Stratford, Jewell and Ellsworth joined the relatives and friends in this vicinity in paying their last tribute of respect. Those from out of town were: Mr. and Mrs. Henry Peterson, Charley Peterson, Mrs. Minnie Ulrick, Alfred Peterson, Roy Wahman, Mrs. Ben Wahman, Mrs. Simenson, all of Stratford; Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Solbrook, Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Harmon, Mr. and Mrs. E.N. Challe, Mr. and Mrs. E.A. Challe and Bertha Challe, all of Jewell; Mr. and Mrs. Ed Challe of Roland, Mr. and Mrs. Arlin Dahl, of Radcliffe; Mrs. John Lundell, Mrs. Aug. Angstrom, Mrs. John Angstrom, Mr. and Mrs. Fosberg and Violet, of Boone; Mr. and Mrs. Jessie Johnson and son and Mr. and Mrs. Martin Ringstedt and John Ringstedt, of Ellsworth, and Mr. and Mrs. Otto Peterson and Emil Peterson, of Stratford.

Rev. H.A. Oppedal, the pastor, and Rev. Goransson, the Lutheran pastor of Stratford, had charge of the services.

Burial was made in the Lawn Hill cemetery, southeast of town.

Mrs. Ben Challe died at the family home Sunday, Jan. 8. She had been in poor health for two years. She was a daughter of Clara and Otto Peterson, of Stratford, and was born on the farm on which she died, June 12, 1886, and on the day of her death was 41 years, 6 months and 26 days old.

Fourteen years ago she was united in marriage to Ben Challe and they settled down on the Peterson homestead, now known as the Ben Challe farm. Here she assisted her husband in making a home and in caring for their son, Luverne, who had come to gladden the home.

Two years ago she submitted to an operation in the hope that this would relieve her and, for a time, she was better, but the dreaded disease came back and for two years she had been in poor health and a very patient sufferer. Everything that could possibly be done for her had been done, but was unavailing.

She leaves to mourn her departure her husband and son, who is 11 years old; her aged parents, one sister, Mrs. John Fosberg, of Boone, and one brother, Emil Peterson, of Stratford.
