Webster City Journal, Webster City, Iowa, Thursday, July 11, 1907

Wednesday {its a little smudged so not sure it says Wednesday] morning at three o'clock occurred the death of Miss Josephine Bute at Stanhope. The funeral services were held from the Christian church in Stanhope Sunday afternoon. Miss Bute was the seventeen year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. S.C. [Samuel] Bute. For some time she had been in delicate health and had suffered with heart trouble and congestion of the lungs.

Miss Bute was a member of the Christian church. She was one of those rare, sweet and lovable young women, blessed with hosts of friends who mourn her death deeply. Her short life was like the blooming of the rose, but withal so delicate that the first harsh wind tore the tender blossom from its stem and a pure soul was ushered into the presence of its Maker.

The parents and two sisters survive.

[burial Lawn Hill Cemetery, rural Stanhope]
