Webster City Freeman, Webster City, Iowa, Tuesday, March 19, 1907

Mrs. Madison Bute, one of the pioneer settlers of Clear Lake township, died Sunday at the home of her son, S.C. [Samuel] Bute, in Stanhope, at the age of 74 years. Mr. and Mrs. Madison Bute came to Hamilton county in 1871, locating in Clear Lake. Mr. Bute died in 1886. Mrs. Bute was sticken with paralysis some two years ago and had been helpless ever since. Thus one by one the men and women who formed the advanced guard of settlements in this part of the state are passing to their reward.
