Curtis S. Brewer was born in Washington county, Iowa, August 17, 1847, and died at Livermore, Iowa, April 17, 1913 at the age of 65 years and 8 months. He was married June 9, 1869 to Miss Annie M. Hamilton. To this union were born four children, Ellis, Oscar, Edward and Pearl, all of whom survive their father, except Edward, who died in childhood. C.S. Brewer was one of the early settlers of Clear Lake township, Hamilton county, living here since the early '70's, moving away from here about one year ago to Livermore, Iowa. He was identified with the material, social and moral growth of this community. At one time he was a hardware merchant in Stanhope, and the owner of a farm near town. The funeral services were held in the Christian church Sunday, April 20th, at 11 a.m., conducted by Rev. C. Shaw of the Christian church, assisted by Rev. English of the M.E. church. The interment took place in the Clear Lake [Lawn Hill] cemetery. Those in attendance at the funeral from out of town were: Oscar Brewer and Ellis Brewer of S. Dakota; Mr. and Mrs. B. Pringle, of Livermore, Iowa, Mrs. C.S. Brewer, of Livermore, A.H. Brewer and wife and daughter, of Adaza and Grace McCandler, of Randall.
