AGED STANHOPE RESIDENT DIES

Mrs. Ella Brewer, Long Time Resident of Stanhope, Is Dead

BURIAL ON SUNDAY

Mrs. Ella Brewer, 75, one of the pioneers of Hamilton county, died at her home in Stanhope this morning at 3:15 o'clock. Death came as a result of a paralytic stroke suffered last Sunday.

Funeral services will be held at Stanhope Sunday afternoon at 1 o'clock with burial in the Stanhope cemetery [Lawn Hill cemetery].

Mrs. Brewer was widely known in the county and follows her husband, A.G. [Alexander] Brewer, in death, he having died about 14 years ago. Mrs. Brewer was a staunch member of the Stanhope Methodist Episcopal church for many years.

She had always lived at Stanhope and 12 years ago she was appointed postmaster in that town. However, she held that office for a comparatively short time, suffering a stroke of paralysis. She also conducted a millinery shop for some time.

Mrs. Brewer is survived by two daughters and two sons: Mrs. C.A. Swanson and Grace Brewer, both of Des Moines; Ralph Brewer, of Marshalltown and Ervin [Erwin] Brewer, at home. Others closely related to her are two sisters, Mrs. Anna Paine, of Seattle, and Mrs. Hattie Evans, of Oakland, Calif. A brother, B.F. Frazier, of Pelican Rapids, Minn., was at her bedside when the end came. W.H. Frazier, of this city, is a nephew of Mrs. Brewer.

[headstone says Mary E. Brewer]
