Jewell Record, Jewell, Iowa, Thursday, December 9, 1915

Alexander G. Brewer was born in Washington Co., Iowa, Feb. 18th, 1850, and died at Stanhope Nov. 30, 1915 at 7:25 p.m. at the age of 65 years, 9 months and 12 days. He came to Hamilton Co. in 1866 and has made Stanhope his home most of the time until his death.

On May 20th, 1875 he was united in marriage to Ella Frazier and to this union were born five children, all of whom survive except one daughter Mabel who passed away in infancy.

Early in life he united with the Methodist church and has striven to live a faithful life of Christian service and in spite of his great afflictions he was always patient, and never complained unduly and when the summons came he was perfectly ready and anxious to go to his eternal home in heaven where there would be no more pain and suffering. He retained consciousness until the end and bid all the members of the family goodbye and exhorted them to meet him in heaven.

He leaves to mourn his departure his faithful wife, two sons and two daughters, Mrs. Grace McCandler, of Ames, Ralph H., of Toledo, Erwin L., of Stanhope and Mrs. Mae Swanson of Dana, who were with him at the bedside until the last, also two brothers and two sisters, besides a host of relatives and friends.
