Eric Berglund, 88, longtime resident of the Stanhope community, died late Friday night at his farm home. He had been in ill health for several years.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday afternoon at Our Savior's Lutheran church at Stanhope with the Rev. Enoch Hall officiating and with burial in Lawn Hill cemetery near Stanhope. The body will lie in state at the Foster funeral home until 9:30 a.m. Tuesday when it will be taken to the church.

Eric Berglund, son of Lars and Clara Anderson Berglund, was born Feb. 13, 1885 at Tidaholm, Sweden. When he was five years old, he came with his family to the United States, locating near Stratford. He was educated in the rural schools near Stratford.

He was united in marriage Oct. 24, 1911 to Helen Rehnblom and the couple had always farmed in the Stanhope community. He had lived on the present farm since 1912.

His wife preceded him in death in 1953. He was also preceded in death by his parents; one grandchild; two brothers and two sisters.

He is survived by one son, Deane Berglund of Stanhope and daughter-in-law, Vera; three grandsons, Darrell Berglund of Boone, Danny Berglund of Ames and Harlan Berglund of Stanhope; five sisters, Mrs. Alice Larson, Pilot Mound, Mrs. Bertha Kane, Stratford, Mrs. Minnie Johnson and Mrs. Martin (Esther) Hall, both of Pasadena, Calif., Mrs. Bessie Peterson, Long Beach, Calif. and Gust Berglund of Stratford.
