Wilbur Obituary written by J.W. Paterson (pastor who conducted services?) - in scrapbook of clippings of people buried at Lawn Hill Cemetery, rural Stanhope

Harvey G. Wilbur was born April 19, 1835 in Madison county, N.Y. Died July 18, 1918 at Stanhope, Iowa, aged 83 years, 2 months and 19 days. He leaves one son, five daughters, two grandchildren, two great grandchildren and one brother, living in Oneida county, N.Y.

Mr. Wilbur was an invalid from paralysis for some time before his death, and so deprived of church privileges which he often regretted. Though not belonging to any church in Stanhope, he was a firm believer in Jesus Christ as his personal Savior, and had often spoken to the writer of his faith in God, and hope that through His grace heaven would be his home. After bidding his daughters a loving "good bye," he gently "Fell asleep in Jesus."

Mr. Wilbur was one of the earliest settlers of Hamilton County, coming to Iowa from New York in 1866 and making his home in Marion Township.

Funeral services were conducted by Rev. J.W. Paterson, Pastor of the M.E. church, from the late residence of the deceased, and from the church, with burial in Stanhope cemetery [Lawn Hill], Wednesday, July 10th, 1918.

[according to obituary of daughter Hattie Louise Wilbur (deceased 1945), his wife's name was Louisa]
