Mrs. Andrew Snyder, longtime Stanhope resident, died at her home Nov. 20, 1948 at 12:55 a.m. at the age of 72. She had been in failing health for several months and had been confined to her home for six weeks.

Emma Mae Kepler, daughter of Adam and Elizabeth Kepler, was born April 10, 1876 on a farm in the Saratoga community. She was four years old when she moved with her parents to Stanhope. She was educated and reared in the Stanhope community.

She was united in marriage April 18, 1900 to Andrew Snyder and to this union were born eight children. Mr. Snyder was in the heating and plumbing business and his work took the family to many sections of the state. In 1916 the family returned to Stanhope, this being their home since.

Mrs. Snyder is survived by her husband; five sons and three daughters: Harold of Hartley, Iowa; Elmer of Stanhope; Marvin of Nevada; Everett of Boone; Nina (Mrs. H.R. McCarroll) of St. Louis, Mo.; Mildred (Mrs. John C. Hawthorne) of Gulfport, Miss.; Kermit of Bryan, Texas and Maxine (Mrs. Byron S. Miller) of Manhattan, Kan. Also surviving are 14 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and one brother, Otis Kepler of Des Moines.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister and two brothers.

Mrs. Snyder was baptized in the Methodist faith and was a member of the Methodist church in Stanhope. Her father, Adam Kepler, was a charter member and helped organize the church. She had always kept a very deep interest there, teaching Sunday school and being a very earnest member throughout the years. She was deeply interested in missions, and her Bible was her daily companion.

Mrs. Snyder was a kind, generous neighbor and will be greatly missed. Her husband and children will have many memories of a kind devoted mother whose thoughts were for the welfare of her family. She was a great lover of flowers and kept her interest in them even though it became difficult to care for them.
