Funeral services for Andrew Snyder, 85, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Methodist church in Stanhope preceded by a brief service at 1:30 at the home of his son, Elmer Snyder, one mile west of Stanhope.

The Rev. R.J. Richards will officiate and burial will be in the Lawn Hill cemetery near Stanhope. The body will lie in state at the Foster funeral home until 10 a.m. Wednesday at which time it will be taken to the church.

Mr. Snyder died at 2 a.m. Monday.

Andrew Snyder, son of Mr. and Mrs. Abraham Snyder, was born March 1, 1868 on a farm near Stanhope. He was educated and reared near Stanhope, and when 18 years old moved to Spokane, Wash., later moving to Portland, Ore.

He returned to Stanhope where he was united in marriage to Emma May Kepler on April 18, 1900. After their marriage they resided in Stanhope for two years, Mr. Snyder being engaged in the plumbing business. He later was a plumber in several other Iowa communities, but for the past 35 years he has made his home in Stanhope.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Nov. 20, 1948; by his parents, two brothers and four sisters. He is survived by five sons and three daughters: Harold Snyder of Hartley, Iowa; Elmer Snyder of Stanhope; Marvin of Nevada; Everett of Boone and Kermit of Bryon, Texas; Mrs. H.R. (Nina) McCarroll of St. Louis; Mrs. John (Mildred) Hawthorne of Colorado Springs, Mrs. Byron (Maxine) Miller of Manhattan, Kan.; 15 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.
