Article included in scrapbook of people buried at Lawn Hill Cemetery, rural Stanhope, Iowa - probably for Jewell paper - received from granddaughter, Marci Bowman (Stanhope, Iowa, May 23, 1923)

Frank Edward Ristrim, who was born October 2, 1874, at the old farm home in Marion township, died at his home in Stanhope Saturday at 11:30 p.m. at the age of 53 years, 7 months and 15 days.

He spent his boyhood days on his father's farm and attended the East Marion School and he very successfully taught for several years. For one year he attended college at Valparaiso, Ind., and afterwards completed a business course at the college of commerce in Des Moines.

His first business venture was a partnership in the Reilly & Ristrim general store at Stanhope. [correction: Swanson, Reilly & Ristrim was first] He continued in the business with several different partners until two years ago when he became sole proprietor, and continued up to the time of his death.

In 1907 he was united in marriage to Bessie I. Wilbur, who four years ago preceded him in death.

He leaves to mourn his loss one daughter, Gayle; his mother Mrs. Hulda Ristrim of Stanhope, and two brothers, Fred of Des Moines and Cliff of East Marion. His father's death occurred in June in 1920.

Besides the immediate family, there are many near relatives and loyal friends who will miss his genial smile and greetings more than words can tell. He was a member of both the Masonic and Modern Woodman lodges.

The funeral service was held at 2 o'clock Monday at the Methodist church after a brief service at the home, where Miss Agnes Larson, of Des Moines, very touchingly sang "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere". The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Wm. Bottom, of Stratford. Rev. G.H. Dick also spoke words of consolation and comfort.

He was a man of sterling qualities and the large attendance at the funeral and the beautiful floral offerings were a testimony to the respect and esteem which was held for him by the community.

Those from out of town who attended the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Will Northrup, Mr. and Mrs. Frank J. Lund, Mrs. H.R. Hummell, Miss Mary Evans, Mrs. Jane Kruoskup, all of Webster City; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Ristrim and son, Clinton; Miss Agnes Larson, Mr. and Mrs. Frank L.
