Mrs. Harry (Hazel) Read, 82, lifelong Stanhope area resident, died Friday afternoon at her home in Stanhope.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Grace United Methodist church in Stanhope with the Rev. David Burright officiating and with burial in the Lawn Hill cemetery.

The body will lie in state at the Foster Funeral home until 8 a.m. Tuesday when it will be taken to the church.

Hazel Elizabeth Snyder, daughter of J.E. and Cora Kepler Snyder, was born Aug. 27, 1895 on a farm in southeast Hamilton county.

She was reared and educated in that area, being graduated from Stanhope high school.

On Jan. 30, 1924 she was united in marriage to Harry A. Read, and the couple made their home in Stanhope where Mr. Read operated the Read Auto Co.

She was preceded in death by her husband in April, 1971, and she continued to reside in Stanhope.

She is survived by three daughters and one son, Mrs. Floyd (Mary) Hage, Ames; Mrs. Robert (Naomi) Lee, Iowa City; Mrs. DeWayne (Roma Jean) Anderson of Arvada, Colo., and Jack Read, Stanhope; four grandchildren; two sisters and one brother, Mrs. Clarence (Agnes) Tjernagel of Mt. Vernon, Wash., Mrs. Arthur (Bernice) Christenson, Webster City and Luverne Snyder, Sacramento, Calif.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and one sister.

She was a member of the Grace United Methodist church; the United Methodist Women, Senior Citizens and the E.O.T. Club.
