Olsson Rites To Be Monday

Martin Olsson, 85, lifelong resident of the Stanhope community, died at 1:15 p.m. Thursday at his home in Stanhope.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Our Savior's Lutheran church in Stanhope with the Rev. Enoch Hall officiating. Burial will be in the Lawn Hill cemetery near Stanhope. The body will lie in state at the Foster Funeral home until 9:30 Monday morning, when it will be taken to the church.

Martin Olsson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Swen Olsson, was born May 23, 1881, on a farm two miles east of Stanhope. He was reared and educated in the Stanhope community.

He was united in marriage March 21, 1906 to Matilda Sandal, and the couple had always resided in the Stanhope vicinity. For many years, Mr. Olsson was manger of the Livestock Shipping association at Stanhope, retiring in 1960.

He is survived by one son, Melford Olsson of Leawood, Kan.; one granddaughter, Mary Ann Olsson, a senior at Iowa State University, Ames; two sisters, Mrs. Byrdie Robb and Miss Clara Olsson of Excelsior, Minn., and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife in 1948; by one daughter, Frances Mae, who died in infancy; by his parents; two brothers and two sisters.

Mr. Olsson was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran church.
