Mrs. Olsson, 65, Dies at Ames

Mrs. Martin Olsson, 65, of Stanhope, died at 3:20 yesterday afternoon at Mary Greeley hospital in Ames. She had been in failing health the past two weeks following a stroke.

Services will be held Friday at 2 o'clock at the Stanhope Lutheran church with Foster's funeral home in charge and with Rev. Odean Monson officiating. Preceding the church rites will be a brief service at 1:30 at the home. Burial will be in Lawn Hill cemetery.

Anna Matilda Sandal, daughter of Oscar and Anna Sandal, was born Aug. 9, 1882 on a farm near Stanhope. She was educated and grew to young womanhood in that community. On March 21, 1906, she was married to Martin Olsson and the couple farmed in the Stanhope vicinity until 1914 when they retired and moved into Stanhope.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Frances Mae, who died at the age of four months, and also by one brother. Survivors include her husband, one son, Melford Olsson of Minneapolis, a grand-daughter, Mary Ann Olsson, and the following brothers and sisters: Martin Sandal of Stanhope, Elmer Sandal of Dayton, Mrs. Maude Nelson, Mrs. John E. Iverson and Mrs. George Siemson of Stanhope and Mrs. Vernon Berglund of Stratford.

She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and was a member of the Stanhope Lutheran church. She was very active in church work as long as her health permitted. She was also a long-time member of the E.O.T. club.

A loving mother and generous neighbor, Mrs. Olsson's main interests in life were her home and church.
