Death of Swan Olson

DIED - At his home near Stanhope, on Monday evening, March 31, Swan Olson, after an illness extending over several months, the deceased having been a sufferer from a form of blood poisoning.

Mr. Olson was one of the most highly respected residents of this township. He was born in Sweden on May 13, 1842, and came to America in 1869, settling in Dubuque county. He moved to Hamilton county in the fall of 1875, and resided here until the day of his death. The deceased was married on February 5, 1880, to Miss Bertha Lewison, whose family lived in this county. Nine children were born to them - three boys and six girls - and all but two of the daughters are now living.

The funeral services were held in the Hanson schoolhouse Wednesday, Rev. G. Isvold, of Jewell, preaching, after which the burial took place at the Stanhope cemetery.

Mr. Olson was a man of education, and had a wide circle of friends who extend sympathy to the family in this time of bereavement.

[The obituary is typed with one 's' in Olson; however, checking the Lawn Hill Cemetery, rural Stanhope, it should be two 's' so Olsson is the correct spelling of his last name - Martin Olsson would be one of his sons]
