Mrs. Maude A. Nelson, 81, a former resident of the Stanhope community, died Monday at the Hadley hospital, Hays, Kan.

The time and place of funeral services will be announced later by the Foster Funeral home.

Maude A. Sandahl, daughter of Oscar C. and Anna Rehmblom Sandahl, was born Oct. 1, 1886, at Stanhope. She was reared and educated in the Stanhope community. She later attended the former Jewell college and taught school for three years in the Stanhope area.

She was united in marriage in 1906 to George Nelson. The couple farmed for many years near Stanhope, and later Mr. Nelson was manager of the Farmers Co-op elevator at Stanhope.

Following the death of her husband in 1935, Mrs. Nelson continued to make her home at Stanhope. For the past year, she resided with her daughter, Mrs. Paul Graber, Hays, Kan.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by one daughter, her parents, two sisters and two brothers.

She is survived by two daughters and two sons, Mrs. Paul (Harriet) Graber of Hays, Mrs. Gail (Joyce) Groves of Jewell, Harland Nelson, Peoria, Ill., and Jerome Nelson, Dearborn, Mich.; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. George Siemsen of Yucaipa, Calif., and Mrs. John Iverson, Stanhope, and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Nelson was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran church in Stanhope.

Funeral services for Mrs. Maude A. Nelson, 81, former Stanhope resident, will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday at Our Savior's Lutheran church in Stanhope.

The Rev. Enoch Hall will officiate and burial will be made in the Lawn Hill cemetery near Stanhope.

Friends may call at the Foster Funeral home until 9:30 a.m. Friday when the body will be taken to the Stanhope church.
